so the car will just run with the turbo timer and it works perfectly for me.

the way it works on manual anyways you have to leave the car running and shut the door to properly engage the remote start if you want that feature. Yeah i figure anothe rnice computstar alarm for me will work out nicely with turbo timer. I just plan to do it via a nice alarm as I assume most who want a timer will also do. Im all for a timer myself, its great cheap insurance. I thought it'd be neat if it could happen - but figured it may be a us it seems like not many people on these boards want a turbo timer anyways. Yeah ive never seen the access port - the only experience i have with aftermarket engine tuning is the FM-Link kit for miata's First off, you dont need the AP hooked up all the time, so I dont see how you could program the ecu to keep running for a set time, but perhaps its possible, an interesting thought. I doubt it will have anything like a turbo timer in it. Then again I do plan to get an alarm and remote start.but i doubt cobb will do either of those I was just thinking it'd be neat if Cobb offered it as an option or something since they're already in there. Personally I'm in the camp that "it can't hurt anything" Is there plans for the access port to include a turbo timer? I know the jury is still out on this as to whether or not its needed. I think of it safely, if theres an engine management tuning solution that controls the boost, I in no way will alter it myself (especially if its as reputable a company as COBB) but if you have NO other options, i would do HEAVY reading before ever suggesting ANYONE to "turn up the boost" manually on their rides. This is a technology that has yet to be used widely, and therefore tuning for it is relatively new. as that also utilizes Direct Injection technology. In the case of the mazdaspeed3 and mazdaspeed6, I would say its equally simple/complex as a VW GTI. but from my understanding of the basic workings of a turbocharged engine, they are equally simple/complex when dealing with a basic fuel injected motor. Im not sure on how germans do it differently. their system is much more simplyier? am i right? I can agree with you in regards in using boost controller in grman cars, but not in the ones from japan. you dont need a boost controller, in fact, its highly discouraged Go outside of there recommendations then you are gambling with loosing your motor.AccessPORT controls EVERYTHING you ECU does. They will help you plan out things with keeping your cars health in mind. Tell them what you want to do in the future and what you are able to do now.

And if you install a Electronic Boost Controller then it needs to be configured correctly so the boost targets your situation properly.Īt this point I think the best thing for you to do is talk to a Professional Tuner and go over all of the mods on the car. Mess any of that up and you have just wasted your money on your tune. The ECU expects to see certain boost at certain throttle with certain fuel and certain air etc. If you put a manual boost controller on and start messing with it then you have just messed with youe ECU's map. When you tune a car it is tuned for everything the way it is right then an there. Turbo timers are not really needed on our turbos but do give us a little piece of mind knowing we did all we could to let the turbo cool down after a spirited drive / track day.

and the only reason people sell them is because companies like money off idiots with no knowledge of how to properly increase boost. I don't care what you have read its a bad idea. And get a Manual boost controller out of your mind. You need to do the boost controller before you get the tune or you will need a new tune after you install the boost controller.

Ok if your new to the turbo game you need to read up.
